Suvereto DOCG is a prestigious wine appellation located in the Val di Cornia area of coastal Tuscany, in the province of Livorno. Established as a DOCG in 2011, it is a small, exclusive red-wine-only region renowned for high-quality wines based on Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese (which together must make up 85-100% of the blend). Vineyards benefit from a Mediterranean climate moderated by the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea, with the Mistral wind mitigating summer heat and keeping vines free of humidity and mould. Soils are predominantly clay-limestone with iron oxide deposits and schist, mingling with mineral-rich rock from the Metalliferous Hills. The result is structured, elegant Super Tuscan-style reds with fine-grained tannins, bright acidity, and strong aging potential.

Agricola Carlini
Agricola Carlini is a small, family-run winery in the San Rocco hamlet of Suvereto, on the Tuscan coast near the Val di Cornia. Founded by Lorenzo Carlini, whose grandfather Bruno once ran a wine business in Chianti's Lucarelli before the mid-1980s methanol scandal prompted a change of course, the estate today farms roughly one hectare of vineyard alongside half a hectare of olive grove in a traditional mixed planting. Lorenzo focuses on bright, mineral white wines -- chiefly Vermentino and Viognier -- alongside reds built from Sangiovese and Prugnolo Gentile. Agricola Carlini is a founding member of the Consorzio di Tutela Suvereto e Val di Cornia Wine, formed in 2021 among 27 local producers to protect and promote the DOC and DOCG denominations of the territory.

Colle Vento
Colle Vento is a tiny, family-run organic winery and agriturismo in Suvereto, Tuscany, founded in 2019 by brothers David and Luca Govi. Leaving San Vincenzo to revive vineyards that had lain abandoned for about four years, they now farm just over one hectare and craft roughly 3,300 hand-numbered bottles a year from a 40-square-meter cellar. Their Sangiovese-led red, rounded out with Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo, and Merlot, is made with guidance from winemaker friend Valerio Cavallini of Bolgheri. Colle Vento is a member of the Consorzio Suvereto e Val di Cornia Wine, and organic farming is treated as a way of life rather than a label, with an emphasis on handwork, naturalness, and the beauty of imperfection.

Gualdo del Re
Founded in 1953 in Suvereto on the Tuscan coast, Gualdo del Re began as a mixed farm before specializing in viticulture in the 1980s. Since 2000, celebrated winemaker Barbara Tamburini — twice named Italy's Best Enologist — has shaped the estate's style, most notably pioneering the pure-Merlot bottling I'Rennero, a five-time winner of the MondoMerlot 'Best Merlot in Italy' award. The roughly 25-27 hectares of vineyards sit in a sunlit hillside amphitheatre facing the island of Elba, farmed without irrigation despite Suvereto's hot summers. In 2022 the estate passed from the founding Rossi family to a new ownership group led by entrepreneur Mauro Gestri, with Tamburini continuing as winemaker and a renewed focus on sustainability. The winery produces around 100,000 bottles a year, spanning native Tuscan varieties (Sangiovese, Vermentino) and international grapes (Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon) across Suvereto DOCG and Val di Cornia DOC appellations.

I Mandorli
I Mandorli is a small biodynamic estate in Belvedere di Suvereto, on the Tuscan coast between Bolgheri and the wild Maremma, founded in 2002 by Massimo Pasquetti and named after the almond trees (mandorli) that cover its high hills. Guided from the start by biodynamic viticulturist Andrea Bargiacchi and today run together with Maddalena Pasquetti, the estate farms two parcels — Vigna al Mare (Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, planted 2004) and Vigna alle Sughere (Sangiovese and Vermentino) — at around 300 meters above the Tyrrhenian Sea, on mineral-rich schist and galestro soils. Vines are worked biodynamically, without herbicides, pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers, though without formal certification, and harvest is entirely by hand. In the cellar, wines are made with native-yeast spontaneous fermentation and zero additives, producing a small range of vibrant, mineral-driven natural wines — Sangiovese- and Cabernet-based reds, a skin-contact orange Vermentino, and an Aleatico-based rosé — released as Toscana IGT and championed at natural-wine fairs such as RAW WINE and ViniVeri.

Il Bruscello
Il Bruscello is a family-run winery in Suvereto, Tuscany, cultivated by the Topi family across four generations. Since the 1980s the estate — led today by Laura Topi and her son, winemaker Michele Celembrini — has embraced modern viticulture while preserving the character of the Val di Cornia. Locally the property is also known as 'Cantina Togliatti', after a 1949 visit by Italian politician Palmiro Togliatti and Nilde Iotti. Alongside Sangiovese, Trebbiano, Ansonica, Barbera, Malvasia, Merlot, Cabernet, Vermentino and Viognier, Il Bruscello safeguards Giacomino, a near-extinct native variety documented since Etruscan times, used in wines such as the rosé 'Il Cipressino' and the Suvereto DOCG red 'Boccalupo'.
