La Bulichella is an organic wine estate near the medieval walled town of Suvereto on the Tuscan coast. Founded in 1983 by four Italian families, the property was taken over in 1999 by Hideyuki and Marisa Miyakawa, a Japanese-Italian couple who had emigrated from Turin (where Hideyuki co-founded the design house Ital Design), and became sole owners. The estate spans 42 hectares, including 17 hectares of vineyards planted on iron- and mineral-rich soils just 10km from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Bulichella has been certified organic (ICEA) since its founding and grows Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Vermentino, and the rare native red grape Aleatico. Its flagship Bordeaux-style blends, Coldipietrerosse and Montecristo, helped define the Suvereto DOCG (established 2011/recognized 2019) and earned Bulichella the title of Asia Wine Ratings' Red Wine Producer of the Year in 2025. Following founder Hideyuki Miyakawa's passing in November 2025, the estate is now led by the second and third generations of the family, his daughter Maria Shizuko and grandson Nicolò Miyakawa, continuing the fusion of Japanese precision and Tuscan tradition.
