Boutique Suvereto estate crafting Super-Tuscan reds with Luca d'Attoma.
Poggio Banzi is a boutique winery on the hill of the same name in Suvereto, in the heart of Tuscany's Val di Cornia / Etruscan Coast. The estate's vineyard roots date to the late 1970s, when traditional Sangiovese was first planted; since 2005 the property has been renewed and expanded with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah alongside native Sangiovese and Vermentino, farmed across roughly 2.5 hectares of clay, sand and stony hillside soils. Small-lot wines are crafted by celebrated consulting winemaker Luca d'Attoma together with vineyard manager Valentino Masi, including the flagship Suvereto DOCG Sangiovese "Buca di Cleonte" from the San Lorenzo Suvereto zone. Poggio Banzi is a member of the consortium protecting the Suvereto DOCG, Rosso della Val di Cornia DOCG and Val di Cornia DOC designations.
