Bera is a historic family-run estate based in Neviglie, in the Langhe hills between Barbaresco and Neive, with land purchased by the family's ancestors as far back as 1785. It was Valter (Walter) Bera who, from the mid-20th century, dedicated decades to raising the profile of Neviglie's wines, and the estate only began bottling and selling under its own label at the end of the 1970s. Today the roughly 30-hectare property (23 under vine) is run together with the next generation, Umberto and Riccardo, who farm plots across Neviglie, Neive, and Barbaresco, including parcels in the celebrated Barbaresco crus of Rabajà, Basarin, and Serraboella. The house style favors long macerations, aging in large neutral oak, and minimal cellar intervention, with the explicit goal of letting each cru speak for itself rather than imposing a winemaking signature. Alongside its Barbaresco and Barbaresco Riserva, the estate is also a long-standing reference point for Moscato d'Asti, Alta Langa metodo classico, Dolcetto, Langhe Nebbiolo, and Barbera.
