The heart of Chianti Classico, home to the legendary Conca d'Oro.
Panzano in Chianti is a prestigious sub-zone (UGA, Unità Geografiche Aggiuntive) within the Chianti Classico DOCG, located between Florence and Siena at 350-500m altitude. It is world-renowned for the 'Conca d'Oro' (Golden Basin), a south-facing natural amphitheater of vineyards with exceptional sun exposure. The soils combine galestro and alberese with pockets of rare pietraforte sandstone found almost exclusively in Panzano, giving wines great structure and firmness alongside ripe, concentrated fruit. Roughly 95% of Panzano's producers farm organically. This microclimate and terroir produce Sangiovese of remarkable concentration, elegance, and aging potential, and the area is a hub for iconic Gran Selezione wines that define the pinnacle of Tuscan winemaking.

Candialle
Founded in 1999 when Finnish winemaker Jarkko Peränen and his German wife Josephin purchased a historic farm in the Conca d'Oro valley of Panzano in Chianti, Candialle released its first wines in 2002. The estate farms its roughly 12 hectares of vines — predominantly Sangiovese — organically, and the couple were founding members of a local growers' initiative to make Panzano Italy's first fully organic wine zone. In the cellar, Candialle favors minimal intervention, letting the galestro- and alberese-rich soils of the Conca d'Oro speak through wines of purity, elegance, and vibrant acidity.

Casaloste
Fattoria Casaloste is a family-run estate on the hills of Panzano in Chianti, one of Chianti Classico's most celebrated crus. Founded in 1992 when agronomist and oenologist Giovanni Battista d'Orsi and his wife Emilia bought the property, Casaloste became the first certified organic winery in Panzano in 1994 and remains an active member of the Unione Viticoltori di Panzano. The estate spans roughly 19 hectares, with about 10.5 hectares under vine and 2 hectares of olive groves, and is energetically self-sufficient thanks to its own solar panels. Casaloste produces around 60,000 bottles a year across all three Chianti Classico tiers — Annata, Riserva, and Gran Selezione — plus IGT bottlings such as Don Vincenzo, a 100% Sangiovese aged 18 months in French oak. The estate's guiding philosophy, 'Essere piccoli per fare grandi vini' ('Be small to make great wines'), reflects its focus on meticulous, small-scale vineyard work — careful canopy management, selective harvesting, and hands-on attention to every parcel. The property takes its name from a 13th-century tower that once served as a military outpost and customs post.

Castello dei Rampolla
Castello dei Rampolla is a historic estate in the Conca d'Oro amphitheater of Panzano in Chianti, its land held by the family since 1739. Alceo di Napoli Rampolla began estate winemaking in the mid-1960s, releasing the first Chianti Classico in 1975 and, in 1982, the trailblazing Cabernet Sauvignon-based Super Tuscan 'Sammarco' — named in memory of his son Marco, who died in a helicopter accident. After Alceo's death in 1991, his children Luca and Maurizia converted the estate to full biodynamic farming by 1995, guided by Rudolf Steiner's principles and the teachings of Tuscan hermit-priest Giovanni Vannucci. Today Rampolla is regarded as one of Chianti Classico's most singular and philosophically driven producers, prized for wines of elegance, tension, and long aging potential.
