Purchased by the Schmelzer family in 2003 and shaped by winemaker Michael Schmelzer, the estate joined forces with co-owners Sara and Henry Bedford in 2017. The winery emphasizes organic farming and minimal intervention winemaking to express the purity of Sangiovese. Its vineyards, characterized by shale (galestro), calcareous sandstone (pietraforte), and limestone (alberese) soils, include some of the oldest vines in Chianti Classico, with parcels dating back to 1933.
