Panzanello is a historic estate in the heart of Panzano in Chianti's celebrated Conca d'Oro (Golden Basin), with documented origins dating back to 1427. The Sommaruga family has owned the property since 1964, and since 1997 Andrea and Ioletta Sommaruga have personally run the estate, converting it to certified organic farming in 1998. A member of the Unione Viticoltori di Panzano, Panzanello focuses on Sangiovese-driven Chianti Classico DOCG wines — including a Riserva and the flagship '1427' bottling — alongside Tuscan IGT reds, a rosé, and sparkling wine. The estate's galestro and alberese soils and the amphitheater-like exposure of the Conca d'Oro give the wines their characteristic freshness, cherry and violet aromatics, and refined tannic structure. Wine Enthusiast, Jancis Robinson and wein.plus have all reviewed Panzanello's wines, and the estate also welcomes visitors for tastings and cellar tours led by the Sommaruga family.
