The wine that put Brancaia on the map of Tuscany's most celebrated estates. A blend of about 80% Merlot with 10% each Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from the two Chianti estates (Castellina and Radda). Each variety and vineyard parcel is vinified and aged separately in barriques (two-thirds new) for 18 months before final blending and a further three months in concrete. The result is a full, concentrated wine with blueberry, blackberry, cherry, spiced orange peel, and dark chocolate notes, and tightly packed, polished tannins.

Sommelier's Note

Il Blu is the wine that defines Brancaia — Merlot-led power tempered by Sangiovese's freshness, and the reason critics put this estate on the map.
