Brancaia

Sangiovese · Merlot

About this wine

Selected from the best Sangiovese parcels at the Brancaia and Poppi estates and blended with a small proportion of Merlot (roughly 80/20), the Riserva is aged for about 16 months in tonneaux (Sangiovese) and barriques (Merlot), followed by further bottle ageing. It shows a deep ruby-magenta hue with cedar, black cherry, balsamic herb, and earthy notes, and a structured, fresh palate with ageing potential of up to 15 years.

Beginner's Note

A step up from the base Chianti Classico — more structure without losing approachability.

Sommelier's Note

"This is Brancaia's Sangiovese with its jacket on — the same bright fruit, given the structure to age gracefully for a decade or more."

Food Pairings

Ideal with roast lamb, bistecca alla fiorentina, and aged pecorino — dishes with enough richness to match its structure.

When to drink it

Special dinners, red-meat centered menus, gifting
