Brancaia

Cabernet Sauvignon · Petit Verdot · Cabernet Franc

About this wine

Brancaia's flagship wine from its Maremma coastal estate, named after a hill historically used for growing Petit Verdot. A modern, terroir-driven blend of about 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Petit Verdot, and 20% Cabernet Franc grown on sandy, loamy soils under a hot Mediterranean climate, aged 18 months in barriques (half new). It shows intense currant, blackberry, mint, and licorice aromas with a full-bodied, opulent palate and polished, firm tannins.

Beginner's Note

A bold, full-bodied Super Tuscan style wine best suited to those who already enjoy structured reds.

Sommelier's Note

"Ilatraia is proof that the Maremma coast can rival Bolgheri — a Cabernet-Petit Verdot blend with the density and polish of the region's best Super Tuscans."

Food Pairings

Pairs beautifully with grilled or braised game, roasted beef, venison, and aged cheeses — Brancaia's own favorite match is fresh tagliatelle with wild boar ragù.

When to drink it
