Baldetti

Syrah

About this wine

Arenite is Baldetti's limited-production Toscana IGT red, made only in particularly favorable vintages (notably 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019) from 100% Syrah grown in specially selected parcels, including the Arenite vineyard from which it takes its name — a reference to the sandy (arenaceous) soils of the site. Production is limited to around 3,000 bottles. The wine ages 24 months in 225L barriques, 8 months in cement, and a minimum of 2 years in bottle before release.

Beginner's Note

A serious, age-worthy Syrah for special occasions — not an everyday bottle, but worth seeking out.

Sommelier's Note

"Arenite is Baldetti's 'new pearl' — made only when the vintage earns it, and it shows in every glass."

Food Pairings

Rich notes of ripe red and black fruit, pepper, leather, and chocolate call for braised red meat, aged game, and hard aged cheeses.

When to drink it

Special dinners, cellar collectors, gifts for serious wine enthusiasts.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Arenite different from Baldetti's other Syrah, Crano?
Arenite is a limited, vintage-dependent selection (about 3,000 bottles) from specially chosen parcels including the Arenite vineyard, with longer overall aging (24 months barrique plus 8 months cement plus 2+ years in bottle) than Crano.
Why is Arenite not produced every year?
It is only made in particularly favorable vintages — including 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019 — when the grapes from the selected parcels reach exceptional quality.
What does Arenite taste like?
Ruby red with purplish hints, a complex nose of ripe red and black fruit with tertiary notes of pepper, leather and chocolate, and a persistent, elegant finish.
