Casas del Bosque

Syrah · Malbec · Pinot Noir

About this wine

Casas del Bosque's cool-climate icon red, named for a parcel where two hills converge to trap coastal mist, creating a warmer microclimate ideal for ripening red varieties within the cool Casablanca Valley. The 2022 blend is 60% Syrah, 35% Malbec, and 5% Pinot Noir, fermented with selected yeasts in truncated cone-shaped concrete tanks, with the Syrah portion given an additional 15-day post-fermentation maceration. Deep violet in color, with blackberry, black olive and pepper from the Syrah meeting floral and red-fruit notes from the Malbec and Pinot Noir.

Beginner's Note

Casas del Bosque's flagship red—more serious and structured, best approached after trying the Reserva or Gran Reserva line.

Sommelier's Note

"Named to James Suckling's 2025 Top 100 Wines of Chile (95 points)—proof that Casablanca Valley reds can rival Chile's best from warmer zones."

Food Pairings

A structured, age-worthy red suited to roasted duck, venison, and slow-cooked lamb shoulder; also excellent with aged hard cheeses.

Terroir & Winemaking

Blend of 60% Syrah, 35% Malbec, and 5% Pinot Noir (2022) from a warm microclimate parcel formed where two hills trap coastal fog. Fermented with selected yeasts in truncated cone-shaped concrete tanks; the Syrah portion receives an additional 15-day post-fermentation maceration. Aged 18 months across a mix of French oak (30% new, 25% second-use, 20% third-use) and concrete tanks (25%) to balance oak-derived complexity with primary fruit purity.
