Vernaccia di San Gimignano

About this wine

A single-vineyard Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG from a 50-year-old plot on poor, stony hillside soil. Grapes are hand-harvested in small crates during the coolest hours, destemmed and macerated on the skins for 20 hours before pressing, then spontaneously fermented in steel and aged 12 months on fine lees, with a further 6 months refining in bottle before unfiltered release. Noble, mineral and energetic, with real aging potential.

Beginner's Note

A more serious, structured Vernaccia — worth decanting to see its full range.

Sommelier's Note

"This is the wine that proves Vernaccia di San Gimignano deserves to be taken as seriously as any of Italy's great whites — mineral, structured, and built to age."

Food Pairings

Structured enough for white meats, roast chicken, and more complex seafood such as lobster or grilled langoustine.
