About this wine

Vin del Fattore, Governo all'Uso Toscano IGT, revives the traditional Tuscan governo technique, in which freshly fermenting must from a short maceration of partially dried grapes is added to the base wine to spark a secondary fermentation. Made from Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo, it is deep purple in color with floral violet notes alongside black cherry and blackcurrant, and a soft palate of ripe, mellow fruit. Alcohol content is 14.5%.

Beginner's Note

A soft, fruit-forward red that shows off an old Tuscan technique without intimidating.

Sommelier's Note

"Governo is a nearly-lost Tuscan technique, and Vin del Fattore is one of the few widely available bottles that still practices it honestly."

Food Pairings
