Founded in 1972, Cantina Vignaioli del Morellino di Scansano is the largest cooperative winery in the Maremma denomination, located in the heart of Scansano in southern Tuscany. Over 160 member growers cultivate approximately 700 hectares of vineyards, delivering their grapes for vinification under centralized supervision while retaining individual care of their own plots. The cooperative is best known for its Morellino di Scansano DOCG, built on Sangiovese (locally called Morellino), alongside wines from indigenous varieties such as Ciliegiolo, Alicante and Vermentino. Following a major renovation completed in 2018, the winery has invested heavily in environmental sustainability, pursuing VIVA Sustainable Wine certification, carbon footprint reduction and lightweight bottling, making it a benchmark producer for the region both in scale and in quality.
