About this wine
Morellino di Scansano DOCG Vigna Benefizio is a single-vineyard selection from a member's especially well-suited plot, made from Sangiovese with a small addition of Alicante. Aged in new and used barriques for around six months followed by further bottle aging, it shows aromas of rose combined with forest fruit jam, cocoa and undergrowth intertwined with spicy and balsamic notes, and a round, dry palate with good structure and pleasant saltiness. The 2022 vintage won Gold Medals at both AWC Vienna 2024 and Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2024.

Roggiano is the flagship Morellino di Scansano DOCG of the cooperative, blending Sangiovese (locally called Morellino) with a small percentage of Ciliegiolo. Produced in volumes reaching around 200,000 bottles a year, it is ruby red in color with ample aromas of ripe fruit and spice, and a round, balanced palate. An organic (Bio) version is also produced.

Morellino di Scansano DOCG Riserva Sicomoro is produced from 100% Sangiovese sourced from the vineyard of the same name, over thirty years old. It undergoes 15 months of aging in new and used barriques followed by a further 18 months in bottle before release. Concentrated ruby red in color, it offers sweet spicy and fruity notes of cherry, forest fruits, cinnamon and vanilla, with a full-bodied, dry palate of strong but elegant tannins balanced by alcoholic warmth. It is considered a Morellino of real structure, best enjoyed 5-10 years after the vintage.

Vin del Fattore, Governo all'Uso Toscano IGT, revives the traditional Tuscan governo technique, in which freshly fermenting must from a short maceration of partially dried grapes is added to the base wine to spark a secondary fermentation. Made from Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo, it is deep purple in color with floral violet notes alongside black cherry and blackcurrant, and a soft palate of ripe, mellow fruit. Alcohol content is 14.5%.
