Borgo Casa al Vento

Sangiovese

About this wine

Foho is Borgo Casa al Vento's Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG, sourced from a single vineyard of the same name. "Foho" means "fire" in Tuscan dialect, referencing the historically hot, structured character of these hillside plots. Made from 100% organically farmed Sangiovese at around 14% ABV, the wine matures in French oak barrels of varying sizes before further bottle refinement. It shows a bright ruby-red color with garnet highlights, an intense bouquet of spiced wood, nutmeg, cacao and violet, and a vibrant palate of crunchy red cherry, strawberry, star anise and a mineral edge, framed by silky tannins and bright acidity.

Beginner's Note

A more structured, age-worthy step up from Aria — best enjoyed with a hearty meal.

Sommelier's Note

"Foho captures the fiery character of a single hillside — dense fruit, polished tannins, and a Riserva structure built for the table."

Food Pairings

Pairs particularly well with meat-based second courses and game, such as wild boar or venison.
