Family-run organic Chianti Classico estate with its own agriturismo in Gaiole.
Borgo Casa al Vento is a family-run winery and agriturismo in Gaiole in Chianti, at the heart of the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany. Restored from a medieval hamlet by the Gioffreda family starting in the early 1990s, the estate combines around 15 hectares of vineyards, olive groves and woodland, of which roughly 6.5 hectares are planted with Sangiovese and about 1.5 hectares with Merlot. The vineyards, on galestro and clay soils, have been certified organic since 2012. The estate produces several Chianti Classico DOCG wines — including the entry Chianti Classico, the Aria cru (100% Sangiovese, named for co-founder Ria), and the Gran Selezione V'Incanto — alongside a Toscana IGT red. Guests can stay on the property, which offers rooms, a private villa, a pool and a restaurant serving traditional Tuscan cuisine paired with the estate's own wines.
