Pontecchio is an Elba Rosso DOC made mainly from Sangioveto (the local biotype of Sangiovese) selected from clones grown on the estate, with a small contribution of Alicante. Grown in the Pontecchio and Mola vineyards, partly within the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, it macerates for 8-10 days, undergoes malolactic fermentation, and rests in cement tanks over winter before spring bottling. Ruby red with youthful hues, it shows an intense, heady fragrance and a dry, slightly tannic, slightly aromatic palate.

Sommelier's Note

An honest, everyday Elba red that over-delivers for the price — proof that Sangioveto belongs on the island as much as on the mainland.

New to wine?

A straightforward, food-friendly Tuscan island red — dry and lightly tannic without being heavy.

Food Pairings

Suited to grilled red meats, tomato-based pasta, and aged pecorino.

When to drink it

Casual dinners, grilled meat barbecues, pasta nights
