Pontecchio is an Elba Rosso DOC made mainly from Sangioveto (the local biotype of Sangiovese) selected from clones grown on the estate, with a small contribution of Alicante. Grown in the Pontecchio and Mola vineyards, partly within the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, it macerates for 8-10 days, undergoes malolactic fermentation, and rests in cement tanks over winter before spring bottling. Ruby red with youthful hues, it shows an intense, heady fragrance and a dry, slightly tannic, slightly aromatic palate.
