Campbell Early Rose is Tsuno Wine's original, classic rosé — the traditional off-dry expression of Campbell Early that the winery has poured since its early years, and the very style its newer 'Campbell Early Dry' bottling was created to contrast with. Made from 100% Campbell Early, a table grape variety Tsuno Wine transformed into its own signature wine grape, grown on the Osuzu plateau in Tsuno Town, Miyazaki, the must is extracted through gentle low-pressure pressing, then fermented slowly at below 15°C with two yeast strains over roughly three weeks and bottled without heat treatment to preserve its fresh, fruit-forward character. It remains one of Tsuno Wine's most popular bottlings, especially with women customers, and is recommended as an aperitif or dessert wine.

Sommelier's Note

This is the true original Campbell Early rosé — the sweeter, fruitier style that Tsuno Wine's own 'Dry' bottling was deliberately created to contrast with, not a rebrand of it.

New to wine?

A gentle, fruit-forward rosé with a touch of sweetness — an easy, approachable first sip for anyone new to Japanese wine.

Food Pairings

Its bright acidity and berry-forward sweetness make it a natural match for fresh fruit — strawberries, figs — as well as vinegar-forward dishes like Japanese-style chicken nanban or sweet-and-sour pork; Tsuno Wine itself recommends pairing it with a roast pork sandwich with pickles from its own TsunoWine & Bakery.

When to drink it

Aperitif, dessert wine, casual gatherings with fruit-based sweets

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Campbell Early Rose the same wine as Tsuno Wine's Campbell Early Dry?
No — they are two separate bottlings made from the same Campbell Early grape. Campbell Early Rose is Tsuno Wine's original, off-dry style (9% ABV, Bordeaux-style bottle), while Campbell Early Dry (11% ABV, Burgundy-style bottle) was created later specifically to offer a crisp, dry alternative for customers who found the original too sweet.
What does Campbell Early Rose taste like?
It shows a bright, translucent salmon-pink color with strawberry and acerola aromas layered over stone-fruit sweetness, a light body, gentle acidity, and a soft, off-dry finish with a hint of pleasant bitterness.
What food pairs well with Campbell Early Rose?
Its fruity sweetness pairs beautifully with fresh fruit salads, and its acidity balances vinegar-based dishes like chicken nanban or sweet-and-sour pork.
Why does Tsuno Wine make wine from Campbell Early, which is normally a table grape?
Tsuno Wine pioneered turning this Miyazaki table grape into wine, pressing it gently at low pressure and fermenting it slowly at low temperature to preserve its natural strawberry-like fruit character rather than treating it as an ordinary eating grape.
