The third of the estate's single-vineyard Cru wines, and unusually for Italy, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. First released in the 2019 vintage alongside Poggio Ferro and Maceone, it is grown on galestro soils at roughly 377 meters (1,236 feet) elevation. The wine shows cool, damp earth and mixed wild herbs beneath tart-and-sweet black fruit and dark chocolate with a touch of flaky salt, with ripe dark fruit on the palate sitting alongside flinty, saline earth tones and silken tannins — a compact, tightly-knit wine built for long aging.
A 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a Sangiovese dynasty — Fontecanese is the estate's boldest statement that terroir, not tradition, decides the grape.
