Sassoalloro Oro

サッソアッローロ・オーロ

Castello di Montepò

Sangiovese Grosso (BBS11 clone)

About this wine

A small-production, single-vineyard expression created in 2021 to mark the 30th anniversary (1991-2021) of Sassoalloro, made in collaboration with renowned winemaker Donato Lanati. Sourced entirely from the 6-hectare 'Aia di Clemente' plot — a steep, low-yielding, highly stressed vineyard of vines over 15 years old with excellent sun exposure — and produced only in Sangiovese Grosso BBS11. Aged 16 months between large 28.5hl Slavonian oak casks and 225-liter barriques, it shows silky tannins with aromas of violet, red fruit and woody spice.

Beginner's Note

A step up from Sassoalloro for those ready to explore the estate's single-vineyard, limited-production wines.

Sommelier's Note

"A 30th-anniversary tribute that shows what the 'Aia di Clemente' plot alone can do — more perfume, more silk, same DNA as Sassoalloro."

Food Pairings

A refined, structured Sangiovese suited to roasted or braised red meat, aged pecorino, and richer game preparations.

When to drink it

Special dinners, celebratory occasions, gifting
