Cantina Francone is a fifth-generation family winery in Neive, in the heart of Piedmont's Langhe region, nestled between the celebrated Gallina and Fausoni cru hills. The Francone family has grown grapes here since the late 1800s; in 1940 Giovanni Battista Francone took over the estate, and in 1964 he and his sons Mauro and Silvano built the winery that still stands today. In the 1990s Mauro's sons, Marco and Fabrizio, joined the business, and the brothers now lead the estate into its fifth generation. Cantina Francone farms Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato, Arneis, Nascetta, Grignolino, and Chardonnay, producing around 100,000 bottles a year across roughly two dozen labels, including Roero Arneis, Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba, Langhe Nebbiolo, Moscato d'Asti, Barbaresco, Barbaresco Riserva, a single-vineyard Barbaresco Gallina from the historic Gallina cru mapped by Renato Ratti, and a Barolo. The estate follows traditional Langhe winemaking methods refined with modern technology and sustainable practices, and its Barbaresco Riserva has scored 90+ points in Decanter's Barbaresco vintage reports. Visitors can tour the cellars, the family's small private museum, and taste wines from the estate's different crus.
