About this wine

Chynos is Francone's Vino Chinato, an aromatized wine made using the same traditional techniques as Vermouth and china-bark-flavored wines. Its base is Barbaresco DOCG, aged about one year in French oak to reach full fruity expression before being infused with gentian root, bitter wood, cardamom seeds, juniper berries, tonka beans, mace and chamomile, then aged a further 3 months in French oak. The result balances sweet and bitter beautifully.

Beginner's Note

A unique digestivo-style wine — a great introduction to Piedmont's chinato tradition for the curious drinker.

Sommelier's Note

"Built on a Barbaresco base rather than a simple table wine, Chynos has more depth than most Vino Chinato — a serious digestivo, not a novelty."

Food Pairings

Best enjoyed with bitter chocolate to reveal its full range of aromas, or served cool as a summer aperitif.

When to drink it

After-dinner digestivo, or chilled as a summer aperitif.
