About this wine
A 100% Barbera from hand-harvested grapes in Diano d'Alba and Roddi. Intense aromas of red fruit and sour cherry mingle with graphite and menthol notes, leading to a rich, concentrated, mineral, and fresh palate typical of the estate's Superiore bottling.
A juicy, food-friendly red with brighter acidity than the estate's Nebbiolo wines — great for those new to Piedmont reds.
Sommelier's Note
"Scassa proves Barbera doesn't have to be simple — the Superiore aging gives it a graphite-and-menthol edge that most everyday Barbera never reaches."
Food Pairings
Excellent with rich starters, baked fish and cod, pasta all'uovo with meat sauce, red and white meat, and matured cheese.
When to drink it
Family dinners, pizza and pasta nights, everyday red meat dishes

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does 'Superiore' mean for this Barbera?
- Barbera d'Alba Superiore DOC requires higher minimum alcohol and longer aging (including wood aging) than standard Barbera d'Alba, resulting in a richer, more structured wine.
- How does Scassa compare to the estate's Nebbiolo wines?
- Barbera has naturally higher acidity and softer tannins than Nebbiolo, making Scassa a juicier, more immediately food-friendly red than the estate's Barolo or Nebbiolo d'Alba.
- What food pairs best with Scassa?
- Its bright acidity cuts through rich dishes like baked fish, meat ragù pasta, and red meat, while its structure stands up to matured cheeses.

バローロ ブリッコ・アンブロージョ
Barolo Bricco Ambrogio
RedNebbiolo
A single-vineyard Barolo DOCG from a prized plot in the Bricco Ambrogio cru in Roddi, purchased by the Grimaldi family in 2006 and first vinified separately in 2007. The site's excellent sun exposure and warm microclimate give a Barolo of great elegance, with warm, open aromas of ripe fruit and spice, and a structured palate built on silky, approachable tannins.
バローロ バダリーナ
Barolo Badarina
RedNebbiolo
The symbolic Barolo of the Grimaldi family, from the Badarina vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba at roughly 450m elevation on white marl, limestone, clay, and sandstone. This cru captures the power and minerality typical of Serralunga terroir, showing medicinal cherry, leather, tar, black plum, roses, and dark earth, with firm, grippy tannins beneath an elegant, fresh frame. Fermented and macerated for about a month, it ages roughly 30 months in a mix of large Slavonian oak and French tonneaux before further bottle aging.
バローロ カミッラ
Barolo Camilla
RedNebbiolo
A cru Barolo DOCG from the Camilla vineyard in Grinzane Cavour, at the estate's home base in the north-east corner of the Barolo zone. Classic aromas of tar and rose lead into ripe strawberry, candied cherry, dark spice, cedar, and hints of chocolate, with medium-to-full body and beautifully rounded tannins that give an immediate, charming character alongside real aging potential.
ネッビオーロ・ダルバ ボヌレイ
Nebbiolo d'Alba Bonurei
RedNebbiolo
A 100% Nebbiolo DOC from vineyards outside the Barolo zone, offering the variety's floral and spicy character with hints of ripe fruit at a more approachable price and earlier drinking window than the estate's Barolo crus.
ランゲ・アルネイス
Langhe Arneis
WhiteArneis
The estate's only white wine, made from Arneis, the indigenous white grape long farmed by the Grimaldi family alongside their red varieties. It shows aromas of white flowers and tropical fruit with a soft, creamy texture on the palate.
ドルチェット・ダルバ サン・マルティーノ
Dolcetto d'Alba San Martino
RedDolcetto
A 100% Dolcetto DOC that is extremely approachable, velvety in texture, and easy to love, with aromas of blackberry, plum, lavender, and violet. Deep purple in color, it offers pronounced fruity aromatics of red fruit, blueberry, and raspberry, dry on the palate with good structure, softness, freshness, and a finely tannic finish.
