A lighter, brighter Nebbiolo-based red from a vineyard purchased in 2016 in Magliano Alfieri, in the sandy first hills of the Roero. Roughly 97% Nebbiolo with a small addition of Cabernet Franc, it is raised entirely in tank with no wood contact and bottled early to preserve its energetic, fruit-driven character, finishing at around 13.5% alcohol.

Sommelier's Note

Roero's sandy soil gives Rosso di Rocca a brightness the family's Barbaresco crus never show — this is Nebbiolo's playful side.

New to wine?

The lightest, most immediately drinkable red in the Rocca lineup — a great gateway into Nebbiolo's aromatics without the tannin.

Food Pairings

Bright and versatile — pairs well with simple, traditional Italian regional dishes such as cured meats, roasted vegetables, and light pasta.

When to drink it

Casual lunches, picnics, or lightly chilled on a warm afternoon.

Terroir & Winemaking

Approximately 97% Nebbiolo and 3% Cabernet Franc from a vineyard in Magliano Alfieri (Roero hills) purchased in 2016; sandy soils; aged entirely in stainless steel with no oak; early bottling; ~13.5% ABV.
