Gousetsu is a limited-production, cloudy (nigori) white wine from Sinano Wine made with 100% Niagara grapes grown in the winery's own and contracted vineyards in Kikyogahara, Shiojiri, Nagano. It skips the usual racking and filtration steps, so grape pulp and active yeast sediment remain in the bottle, preserving Niagara's fresh, candy-like fruit aroma. Made without added sulfites and light in alcohol at around 9% ABV, it is a fruity, sweet, easy-drinking wine best served well chilled.

Sommelier's Note

One of the most honest ways to taste Niagara's grapey character — unfiltered, low in alcohol, and closer to fresh grape juice than a typical dry wine.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Gousetsu taste like?
It's a sweet, fruity, low-alcohol cloudy white with juicy Niagara grape character — light and grapey, closer to fresh grape juice than a typical dry wine.
What is a 'nigori' (cloudy) wine?
Nigori wines skip the racking and filtration steps most wines go through, so grape pulp and active yeast sediment remain in the bottle, giving the wine its characteristic cloudiness and fuller, fruitier texture.
How should Gousetsu be served?
Serve it well chilled, and gently shake or swirl the bottle before pouring to redistribute the settled pulp and lees evenly through the wine.
Does Gousetsu contain added sulfites?
No — it is made without added sulfites (antioxidants), relying on Sinano Wine's low-intervention, no-additive winemaking process.
