MATENI ROSE is OSA WINERY's dry rosé from the Shiripa-no-Oka vineyard in Yoichi, Hokkaido, blending five red varieties — Merlot, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Nebbiolo and Sangiovese — each hand-harvested at its own peak ripeness in late September to early October. The hand-sorted grapes are macerated on skins for about 14 hours, then slowly direct-pressed over three hours at low pressure to capture a bright salmon-pink color and delicate aroma without harsh tannins. Fermented separately by harvest lot in three tanks, then blended the following February, it balances Merlot's richness, Zweigelt's depth, Pinot Noir's perfume and the vivid acidity of Nebbiolo and Sangiovese. Only 1,032 bottles of the 2024 vintage were produced. The name 'mateni' is an Otaru-dialect word meaning 'with care and attention,' reflecting the many hands behind each bottle.
A five-variety rosé built by direct press, not saignée — the result is a genuinely elegant salmon-pink wine with real depth, not just an afterthought blush.

Terroir & Winemaking
Hand-sorted grapes are cold-macerated on skins for about 14 hours, then slowly direct-pressed over three hours at low pressure (direct press method, not saignée) to preserve color while minimizing tannin extraction. Fermented separately by harvest lot in three tanks, analyzed, and blended the following February, then aged in bottle before release.
