COMPLEX High is a small-batch natural red from Natan Winery in Miyoshi City, Tokushima, built around a Yama Sauvignon and Pinot Noir blend from the winery's own hillside plots (vintages have also included a touch of Campbell Early). Fermented with wild yeast and bottled without additives, fining, or filtration, it shows a pale raspberry-tinged red, delicate wildflower and berry aromas, subtle bitterness, and a spicy, cinnamon-like complexity that develops with air. The name reflects winemaker Namika Inoshita's idea of releasing one's 'complexes' — turning insecurity into one's greatest strength.
One of Natan's most personal cuvées — the name itself is a statement of turning insecurity into strength, and the wine's delicate wildflower nose hides a surprisingly spicy, complex finish.
