Arancia is the flagship orange wine of Fattoria AL FIORE's premium "Fattoria AL FIORE series," made from 100% Delaware grapes grown by grower Shian-san in Kaminoyama City, Yamagata Prefecture. This same Delaware fruit first appeared in the 2022 vintage of the winery's NECO-series bottling Anco, and its quality impressed the winemakers enough that it was promoted to lead the flagship label. Made without added sulphites and left unfiltered, the wine is fermented on skins with wild yeast in amphora for 130 days, then pressed and returned to the amphora, sealed for three months of oxidative aging, and finally matured for a further six months in old oak barrels before bottling. The result is a deep amber-colored orange wine with a fruity, alluring Delaware aroma, a crisp dry palate, dense fruit concentration, and firm savory depth; its initially sharp acidity softens with air, gradually revealing tropical fruit nuances.

Sommelier's Note

This is Fattoria AL FIORE's clearest statement on what the humble table grape Delaware can become: 130 days of skin contact followed by a two-stage aging regime yields a deep amber wine with apricot- and sherry-like complexity that easily justifies its flagship status.

New to wine?

A full-bodied, food-friendly introduction to orange wine, with dense Delaware fruit that pairs naturally with Japanese home cooking.

Food Pairings

Pairs beautifully with richly seasoned Japanese dishes such as simmered pork belly (buta no kakuni) and mackerel glazed with sesame and mirin; its dense fruit and umami also stand up well to warm, lightly spiced treats like cinnamon toast. Best served at 14-18°C in a Burgundy glass or a ceramic cup, ideal as an after-dinner pour.

When to drink it

A special-occasion bottle from the winery's flagship line — ideal for anniversaries at home or in a restaurant, and for a relaxed after-dinner pour.
