Barolo Riserva Vignolo

バローロ リゼルヴァ ヴィニョーロ

Cavallotto

Nebbiolo

About this wine

A single-vineyard Riserva from the 1.96-hectare Vignolo cru, planted in 1948 and 1966 on a southwest-facing slope. Aged for an extended 60 months (5 years) in large Slavonian oak casks, it offers heady aromas of pine forest, cedar, ripe red berry and spice, with a full-bodied palate of Morello cherry, truffle, orange zest and pomegranate, framed by tight, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity.

Beginner's Note

A deep, contemplative Barolo best paired with a rich meal rather than sipped alone.

Sommelier's Note

"Five years in old Slavonian oak gives Vignolo a depth few Barolos achieve — this is Nebbiolo at its most patient and most rewarding."

Food Pairings

Pairs beautifully with slow-braised game, porcini mushroom dishes, and aged pecorino or Parmigiano-Reggiano.

When to drink it

Long dinners, cellar collections, and pairing with rich braised or roasted game.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Vignolo vineyard known for?
Vignolo is a 1.96-hectare, southwest-facing single vineyard with vines planted in 1948 and 1966, prized for producing structured, aromatic Nebbiolo with great aging potential.
How does Vignolo differ from Vigna San Giuseppe Riserva?
Both are single-vineyard Riservas aged around 4-5 years in large oak, but they come from different crus with distinct character — Vignolo tends toward pine, cedar and spice notes, while San Giuseppe is prized for its floral elegance.
What food pairs well with this wine?
Slow-braised game, porcini dishes, and long-aged hard cheeses match its tannin structure and earthy, spiced profile well.
How long can this wine be cellared?
Given its 60-month oak aging and Nebbiolo's natural structure, this Riserva can comfortably age for 15-25 years in good conditions.
