A single-vineyard Barbera from the Vigna del Cuculo parcel within the Bricco Boschis estate. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in Slavonian oak casks, it shows an intense, expressive bouquet of blackberry, ripe plum, spice and tobacco, with a full-bodied, high-acid, low-tannin palate of Morello cherry, raspberry jam and peppercorn typical of great Barolo-zone Barbera.

Sommelier's Note

Proof that Barbera doesn't have to be simple — the Vigna del Cuculo site gives this wine a seriousness rarely found outside Barolo itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Vigna del Cuculo Barbera special?
It comes from a single named parcel within the family's Bricco Boschis estate and is vinified with the same care and Slavonian oak aging as Cavallotto's Nebbiolo wines, giving it more depth than typical Barbera d'Alba.
Why does Barbera have such high acidity?
Barbera is naturally a high-acid, low-tannin grape, which is why it pairs so well with rich, fatty or tomato-based foods — the acidity cuts through and refreshes the palate.
What food pairs well with this wine?
Its bright acidity makes it excellent with pizza, tomato-based pasta, grilled sausages, and cured meats.
Should this wine be served chilled?
A slight chill (around 16-18°C) can enhance its freshness, though it is typically served at standard red wine temperature.
