Bottiglia Particolare

ボッティリア・パルティコラーレ

Castello di Verrazzano

Sangiovese · Cabernet Sauvignon

About this wine

A Toscana IGT 'Super Tuscan' blend of roughly 50% Sangiovese and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, hand-harvested at low yields from limestone-rich vineyards in Greve in Chianti. Fermented in small lots at controlled temperature with maceration of up to 20 days, then aged in barrique (75% Allier, 25% Vosges oak) for a minimum of 18 months, followed by further time in large barrels and bottle refinement. Ruby red with strong purplish reflections; an intense, wide-ranging nose of small red fruits, dark berries, vanilla and oak leads to an elegant, rich palate with silky tannins and background notes of vanilla and chocolate.

Beginner's Note

A bolder, more international-style red than the estate's Sangiovese-only wines — great entry point for Cabernet lovers curious about Tuscany.

Sommelier's Note

"Bottiglia Particolare is Verrazzano's answer to the Super Tuscan movement — the 50/50 Sangiovese-Cabernet split gives you Tuscan freshness with Bordeaux-style structure, and it holds its own against far pricier IGTs."

Food Pairings

A rich, international-style red that pairs well with grilled steak, roasted red meats, and dishes with dark spice or chocolate-inflected sauces.

When to drink it

Steak dinners, celebratory meals, gifting to Cabernet lovers

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Bottiglia Particolare?
It is Castello di Verrazzano's Super Tuscan-style wine, a Toscana IGT blend of roughly 50% Sangiovese and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in French oak barrique.
Why is it classified as IGT rather than DOCG?
Chianti Classico DOCG rules limit the use of international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon at this proportion, so wines with a roughly equal Sangiovese-Cabernet blend are released under the more flexible Toscana IGT designation, following the Super Tuscan tradition.
What food pairs well with this wine?
Its richness and silky tannins pair well with grilled steak, roasted red meats, and dishes with dark spice or chocolate-inflected sauces.
