Castello di Monsanto

カステッロ・ディ・モンサント

Creator of Il Poggio, the first single-vineyard Chianti Classico.

Castello di Monsanto is a historic estate in Barberino (now part of Barberino Tavarnelle), on the western edge of the Chianti Classico zone. Aldo Bianchi purchased the property in 1961, and his son Fabrizio Bianchi went on to pioneer the single-vineyard concept in Chianti Classico, vinifying the Il Poggio vineyard separately from 1962 onward. Il Poggio Riserva is widely regarded as the first single-vineyard Chianti Classico ever produced, and remains the estate's flagship, celebrated for its structure, purity of Sangiovese fruit, and remarkable aging potential. Today Fabrizio and his daughter Laura Bianchi continue the estate's tradition of precise, terroir-driven winemaking.
