A rare varietal wine from 15-year-old Pelaverga Piccolo vines along the ridge connecting La Morra and Verduno, in the heart of the tiny Verduno Pelaverga DOC. Calcareous soils and elevated exposures contribute freshness and aromatic precision. Fermented spontaneously in stainless steel with minimal intervention and no post-fermentation maceration, then aged entirely in tank to emphasize the variety's pure, idiosyncratic character. The wine shows crushed strawberries, rose petals and cracked white pepper, with a bright, light-bodied palate.
Pelaverga Piccolo is one of Piedmont's most delightfully underrated grapes, and this bottling — light, peppery and utterly chillable — makes the case better than most.
