A selection of Casaloste's best fruit, the Riserva is roughly 95% Sangiovese with a small addition of Merlot and other native red varieties. Aged about 14 months in French (Allier) oak barriques with bâtonnage and micro-oxygenation, it layers blackberry, ripe marasca cherry, and plum with elegant notes of wood, delivering a velvety, powerful yet lively palate driven by fresh acidity.
Casaloste's Riserva shows that judicious oak and bâtonnage can amplify Sangiovese without masking it.
