Casa Emma

Sangiovese

About this wine

An amphora-aged Sangiovese bottled as Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT, named 'Harenae' — Latin for sand or terracotta, honoring the material used to build the amphorae. The wine is completely vinified and aged for twelve months in 1,000-liter spherical terracotta amphorae, using grapes grown under organic and biodynamic farming practices. This method yields a crunchy fruitiness and grippy tannin, making Harenae one of Casa Emma's most focused, precise expressions of pure Sangiovese. Production is limited to around 2,000 bottles per vintage.

Beginner's Note

A great entry point for curious drinkers into amphora winemaking — textured but still recognizably Sangiovese.

Sommelier's Note

"Harenae shows what happens when an organic, geese-and-terroir estate applies ancient amphora technique to pure Sangiovese — crunchy, precise, and unlike anything else in the Casa Emma range."

Food Pairings

Its bright, mineral-driven fruit suits grilled vegetables, charcuterie, and lighter Tuscan cured meats.
