Pinot Noir

About this wine

Domaine Cloche Pinot Noir is Bellwood Vineyard's single-varietal flagship red, made from 100% estate-grown Pinot Noir cultivated in Kaminoyama, Yamagata. The wine undergoes long barrel aging in French oak (around 15 months) followed by extensive bottle aging of over two years before release, resulting in a deep, complex red with aromas of raspberry and violet layered with forest-floor and toasted oak nuances. It is unfiltered, with soft acidity and rich, well-integrated tannins; decanting or extended aeration after opening is recommended.

Beginner's Note

A serious, age-worthy Japanese Pinot Noir — best enjoyed after decanting to let the aromas open up

Sommelier's Note

"Proof that Yamagata terroir can produce a Pinot Noir with real depth and cellaring potential — this is not a wine to rush"

Food Pairings

Pairs beautifully with duck, grilled lamb, and mushroom-based dishes; also matches simmered Japanese dishes with soy-based sauces such as beef sukiyaki.
