Barolo Riserva Rocche dell'Annunziata

バローロ・リゼルヴァ・ロッケ・デッランヌンツィアータ

Aurelio Settimo

Nebbiolo

About this wine

The estate's rarest and most ambitious bottling, produced only in exceptional vintages from a careful selection of grapes in the oldest vines (45-65 years old) within the Rocche dell'Annunziata cru. As a Riserva, it undergoes extended aging including 18 months in large oak casks, with a minimum total aging of 5 years before release, well beyond the DOCG minimum. Aromas of dried cherry, prunes, forest floor, smoke, and meat lead to a palate with firm, refined tannins, velvety texture, crisp integrated acidity, full body, and a long licorice-tinged finish.

Beginner's Note

This is a collector's Barolo, not a starting point — best approached after you already know and love the estate's Rocche dell'Annunziata.

Sommelier's Note

"Only made when the vintage deserves it — this Riserva is Aurelio Settimo's statement that patience, not intervention, is what makes great Barolo."

Food Pairings

Reserve this for the most special occasions: aged game, truffle-laden dishes, hard aged cheeses (Parmigiano-Reggiano 36+ months), and slow-braised beef.

When to drink it

Once-in-a-lifetime celebrations, fine wine collecting, gifting to serious Barolo enthusiasts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this Riserva so rare?
It is produced only in exceptional vintages, using a careful selection of grapes from the estate's oldest vines (45-65 years) within Rocche dell'Annunziata, so it is not made every year.
How does this differ from the regular Rocche dell'Annunziata bottling?
It comes from the oldest vines within the same cru, undergoes significantly longer aging (minimum 5 years including 18 months in large oak), and is only released in outstanding years — giving it greater depth, structure, and aging potential.
Is this wine ready to drink on release, or should it be cellared?
While already showing refined, integrated tannins on release thanks to its extended aging, it is built to reward further cellaring for a decade or more.
