Adiron is a light-bodied, off-dry red wine made from 100% Adirondack grapes grown in Fuefuki City, Yamanashi, by 8 vin-yard MISAKA (New Yamanashi Wine Brewing). Adirondack is an intensely aromatic American-origin black grape grown almost exclusively in Yamanashi, and its sweet, grapey fragrance fills the vineyard at harvest time. The winemaking team visits the vineyard repeatedly to time the harvest precisely, picking while a touch of acidity still remains so the wine's sweet aroma is balanced by a refreshing tartness rather than becoming cloying. Bottled at 720ml with 10% ABV, it is typically released each October as a nouveau-style new vintage.
The most characterful way to experience Adirondack — a grape almost nowhere else in Japan — this nouveau-style red delivers an unmistakable grapey perfume balanced by real acidity, not just sugar.
New to wine?
An easy, approachable first red for those new to wine — its sweet grapey aroma and light body make it especially friendly to tannin-shy drinkers.
Food Pairings
The aromatic sweetness pairs naturally with sweet-savory Japanese dishes such as teriyaki chicken or grilled eel (unagi kabayaki), as well as fruit tarts and mild, semi-hard cheeses.
When to drink it
Great for casual autumn gatherings and as a seasonal nouveau-style treat, or as a distinctive gift introducing a rare Japanese grape variety.
