Growers carefully limit the number of clusters per vine so that nutrients concentrate in each berry, and a portion of the juice is drawn off before fermentation (a saignée-style technique) to raise the ratio of skin contact, yielding a wine with deeper color than typical Muscat Bailey A. The 2022 vintage shows a vivid ruby hue, ripe red-berry and wild-strawberry aromas with a light floral lift, and a clean, well-balanced finish with moderate, well-integrated tannins — avoiding the overly sweet, candied character sometimes associated with the variety.

Birei ("beautiful decree/order") is a dry rosé crafted by 8 Vineyard (New Yamanashi Wine Brewing) from specially selected, high-sugar Muscat Bailey A grapes grown in the Ninomiya district of Misaka Town, Fuefuki City, Yamanashi — around the historic Miwa Shrine vineyards. Made using only the clear, settled portion of the free-run juice, the wine is fermented and then aged in stainless steel tank for six months to preserve fruit purity and freshness. First produced in 2019 (the first year of the Reiwa era, from which the wine takes its name) and released on June 5, 2020, it pours a delicate, pure cherry-blossom pink and offers vivid strawberry aromas balanced by crisp, refreshing acidity — a clean, elegant expression of Japan's signature red grape in rosé form.
