Juliénas is one of the ten prestigious Crus of the Beaujolais wine region, located in the northern part of the area. Named after Julius Caesar, who is said to have established vineyards here, the region covers approximately 585 hectares and is home to around 120 producers. The terroir is characterized by diverse soils, including granite, volcanic rock, and clay-limestone, which impart a distinct structure and complexity to the Gamay grapes. Wines from Juliénas are renowned for their deep ruby color, intense aromas of red fruits, floral notes, and a robust, spicy finish. They are often considered more structured and age-worthy than many other Beaujolais wines, offering a perfect balance between elegance and power.

Château de Juliénas
Château de Juliénas is a historic estate whose cellars date back to the 13th century, when the property belonged to the Lords of Beaujeu. The château was extended in the 16th and 18th centuries, and beneath its courtyard lies a 350-meter vaulted cellar built in 1740 — the longest in Beaujolais. In 1907, Claude Condemine acquired and restored the estate during the phylloxera crisis, and it has remained in the Condemine family ever since; today Thierry Condemine, Claude's great-grandson, runs the 40-hectare domain with his wife Aurélie. The estate obtained organic certification in 2022 and produces wines across the Juliénas, Fleurie, Moulin-à-Vent and Beaujolais-Villages appellations. It has welcomed visitors for wine tourism since 2006.

Domaine Benjamin Passot
Domaine Benjamin Passot is a rising star of northern Beaujolais, founded in 2017 when Benjamin Passot settled on a few parcels in Juliénas after honing his craft on the exceptional terroirs of Vosne-Romanée in Burgundy. The estate has since grown to over five hectares spanning five prestigious crus — Juliénas, Chénas, Chiroubles, Moulin-à-Vent and Morgon. Working without oenological products and farming with minimal intervention, Passot hand-harvests every cuvée with pruning shears and ages his wines for around ten months in barrel following Burgundian tradition. The result is elegant, terroir-driven Gamay with pure fruit and a distinct mineral backbone from the granite-rich soils, approachable in youth yet capable of graceful aging.

Domaine David Beaupère
Domaine David-Beaupère is a rising star of the Juliénas appellation in Beaujolais, based at the La Bottière lieu-dit. Louis-Clément David-Beaupère revived the family estate in 2008, starting with the vines around the family house and gradually growing the domaine to around 10 hectares, which he farms with his sister Olympe under certified organic agriculture. Counted among the 'new naturals' of Beaujolais, the estate favors low-intervention winemaking that lets the granite-rich soils of Juliénas speak. Flagship cuvées from parcels such as La Bottière show the purity, elegance and mineral drive that have made the domaine a benchmark for modern, authentic Juliénas.
