LOHAS is a small-batch natural field blend from Wine Hatake Uramoto, a micro-winery in the Tappu district of Mikasa City, in Hokkaido's Sorachi region. The 2022 vintage co-ferments Merlot with the aromatic white hybrid Bacchus alongside Campbell Early and Portland, grapes long grown on the steep slope below Tappu Mountain. Fermentation relies entirely on indigenous yeasts, with no acid or sugar adjustment, no fining, no filtration, and no added sulfites, giving a wine with natural cloudiness and tartrate crystals that reflect its hands-off approach.
A tiny-production, 335-bottle field blend that captures the raw, unpolished energy of Sorachi's new-generation growers — proof that Hokkaido's grower-producers are worth seeking out one bottle at a time.
New to wine?
A gentle, low-tannin natural red that's easy to approach even if you're new to unfiltered wines.
Food Pairings
A light, food-friendly red built for the table rather than the cellar. Its bright acidity and soft tannins suit grilled chicken, charcuterie, and mushroom dishes, and it takes a light chill well in summer.
When to drink it
Casual weeknight dinners, izakaya-style small plates, gatherings with friends.
