Wine Hatake Uramoto

ワイン畑浦本

A young grower-producer rooted in Sorachi's Kurisawa terroir

Founded by Tadayuki Uramoto in the Mojoushi district of Kurisawa, Iwamizawa City, Hokkaido, Wine Hatake Uramoto is a micro-winery within Japan's Sorachi wine region. Uramoto began growing wine grapes as a new-entrant farmer in 2022 and opened his small winery the following year, in 2023. His winemaking favors minimal intervention: primary fermentation relies on indigenous yeasts and malolactic fermentation on wild lactic acid bacteria, with little to no additives. Early vintages were built from purchased Niagara and Kerner grapes, and from 2024 the winery has also drawn fruit from a vineyard in nearby Mikasa that Uramoto took over from a fellow grower. Wine Hatake Uramoto is a full member of the Sorachi Wine Association, one of a growing cluster of small, grower-producer wineries putting the Kurisawa area of Iwamizawa on Hokkaido's wine map.
