Kobe Wine Red is the entry-level red in Hakutsuru Shuzo Kobe Winery's everyday 'Kobe Wine' line, made from 100% Kobe-grown grapes — primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot — hand-harvested from contracted and estate vineyards around the Rokko foothills in Kobe's Nishi and Kita wards. It is a light-bodied, approachable blend showing bright red-berry aromatics with youthful acidity and smooth, gentle tannins, built for everyday drinking rather than aging.

Sommelier's Note

The most accessible bottle in the Kobe Wine range — a Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend built for the dinner table, not the cellar, and a great everyday introduction to Kobe's terroir before stepping up to the single-varietal Reserva line.

New to wine?

A light, easy-drinking red with gentle tannins — a friendly first taste of Japanese wine.

Food Pairings

Pairs well with umami-rich dishes such as beef stir-fried in oyster sauce, pork sauteed steak, and eggplant with green pepper in miso — its light body and soft tannins also suit spiced Chinese-style red meat dishes.

When to drink it

Everyday dinners, casual gatherings, and pairing with Japanese or Chinese home cooking
