Kobe Wine Extra White is the oak-aged white in Hakutsuru Shuzo Kobe Winery's mid-tier 'Extra' line, sitting between the everyday 'Kobe Wine' series and the limited-vintage 'Kobe Reserva' series, and forming a white-and-red pair with Kobe Wine Extra Red. Made from 100% Kobe-grown Chardonnay selected only in years of favorable harvest, hand-picked from contracted and estate vineyards around the Rokko foothills in Kobe's Nishi and Kita wards. Careful low-temperature fermentation and low-temperature filling preserve the grape's aroma and fruit character, and the wine is aged in oak barrels, producing a dry to off-dry style with aromas of apple and tropical fruit accented by spicy notes of sandalwood and lemon peel, balanced by refined acidity.
The white counterpart to Kobe Wine Extra Red — its oak-aged Chardonnay shows more spice and texture than the everyday Kobe Wine White, making it Kobe Winery's best entry point into barrel-aged Japanese Chardonnay.
