Kontoku Delaware is the entry-level, once-a-year Delaware bottling in Kawachi Wine's standard "Kontoku Budoshu" (金徳葡萄酒) line — the historic Osaka producer's everyday series, distinct from its newer premium "KIEI" line. Subtitled "Delaware Nouveau" on the winery's own product page, it is made from freshly harvested Delaware grapes grown in the Kawachi district of Habikino, an area with over a century of Delaware winemaking history. Kawachi Wine describes it as capturing the fresh aroma of biting into just-picked grapes, with a broad, lively acidity, and recommends it as a wine that pairs well with Japanese cuisine. It is bottled at 12% ABV in both 750ml (¥1,980) and 1800ml (¥3,300) formats, with added sulfites (as required by Japanese labeling law). It should not be confused with the winery's limited "Kontoku Budoshu Expo Memorial Delaware 2025" (金徳葡萄酒 万博記念デラウェア2025), a separate 360ml commemorative bottling released for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, or with any of the Delaware wines in the winery's separate KIEI line (KIEI Komagatani Delaware, KIEI Komagatani Delaware Orange, KIEI Komagatani Delaware Orange Sparkling, KIEI Delaware Sparkling).
The standard-bearer of Kawachi Wine's everyday line — a once-a-year Delaware Nouveau that bottles the fresh-picked, foxy charm of Japan's most historic table grape without any pretense.
