Muroka Nigori White is Iwate Kuzumaki Wine's annual unfiltered new-release white, made from 100% Niagara grapes harvested in early autumn (shinshu) and bottled unfiltered (muroka) so the wine retains its natural lees and cloudiness (nigori). It is the white-wine sibling of the winery's better-known Muroka Nigori Red (made from Campbell Early), sharing the same product concept and seasonal October release but built from a different grape and carrying its own product code (W036 vs. W035 for the red). Released each autumn as one of the winery's most anticipated limited wines, it is a fresh, off-dry white with bright citrus-like aromas and the complex, fruit-forward character typical of Niagara, finishing with a soft, lingering sweetness. Because it is unfiltered, the bottle should be gently rocked before pouring to redistribute the sediment and fully experience the grape's natural texture.

Sommelier's Note

The white counterpart to Kuzumaki's beloved Muroka Nigori Red — a true taste of the autumn harvest, and one of the most honest, unpolished expressions of Niagara grapes you'll find in Japanese wine.

New to wine?

A gentle, approachable entry point into unfiltered 'nigori' wine — the soft sweetness and citrus notes make the cloudy texture easy to enjoy even for first-timers.

Food Pairings

The citrus-forward aroma and gentle sweetness pair naturally with lightly seasoned white fish, tempura, and fresh goat cheese. In Japanese cuisine it complements sashimi with ponzu, agedashi tofu, and mild simmered vegetable dishes, and works well as a chilled aperitif.

When to drink it

Celebrating the autumn new-release season with friends or family, a casual home party, or as a chilled pre-dinner aperitif.

Terroir & Winemaking

Off-dry, ABV 9%. Made from 100% Niagara grapes harvested in early autumn (shinshu/new-release wine) and bottled unfiltered, leaving natural lees for a cloudy (nigori) appearance. Serve well chilled (around 6-10°C) and gently rock the bottle before pouring to redistribute the sediment. Released annually in limited quantity each autumn (2025 vintage released October 24, 2025; product code W036, 720ml).
