Hoshi White (Hoshi meaning 'star') is a slightly dry white wine from Iwate Kuzumaki Wine made from 100% Seibel 9110, a French-American hybrid grape grown in Kaminoyama, Yamagata Prefecture. The grapes are freeze-concentrated before pressing and the resulting juice is fermented and aged sur lie (on its lees) through the following spring, concentrating the fruit and adding a rich, yeast-derived depth. The wine shows bright citrus and floral aromatics layered over refreshing acidity and a lingering finish. It has a long, decorated competition history, including Gold at the 2025 Feminalise World Wine Competition and repeated medals at the Japan Wine Challenge and Japan Wine Competition since the mid-2000s.

Sommelier's Note

One of Kuzumaki's most consistently awarded whites — the freeze-concentration and sur lie aging give it a depth that belies its everyday price point.
